Rail service alterations on Karelia line
Rail services are replaced by buses today on Imatra-Parikkala line due to damage caused by Friday night's thunderstorm. VR expects to operate rail services from Helsinki to Joensuu and from Joensuu to Helsinki according to normal timetables but use of replacement transports will cause delays of half an hour to an hour. A violent thunderstorm brought down trees onto rail tracks Friday night damaging the structures of electrified line on Karelia and Savo lines. The situation also causes difficulties for rail freight in Eastern Finland. According to an estimate by the Finnish Transport Agency Savo line is repaired but it will take several days to repair the damage to the Karelia line....
